Town-twinning program in Sombor – July 24-31, 2025.
The 11-member delegation from the Kós Károly Elementary School in Kispest spent 8 meaningful days in Sombor, the town-twinning city of Kispest, Serbia.
We received a warm welcome and excellent care.
We were welcomed by the mayor of the settlement, then we introduced ourselves at a national evening together with the East Sarajevo and local groups.
We explored the sights of the city on foot and by horse-drawn carriage. We visited the county hall, the Catholic and Orthodox churches, searched for treasures in the city museum, and admired the theater from the outside and inside. We were entertained at the Hungarian Civic Casino, where we paid our respects at the statue of the martyr József Schweidel of Arad, who was born in Sombor.
We had the opportunity to meet craftsmen around the settlement: we could see the work of the woodworker and the beekeeper and we also got to know the farm lifestyle.
They also organized diverse leisure programs for us, we went to the beach, played laser tag, went boating, kayaked, and went to the cinema. We also gained useful knowledge, we spent a whole day at the Red Cross camp.
Our hosts said goodbye to us on a farewell evening, where we could taste local delicacies and the city leaders honored us with their presence.
Thank you for the opportunity, we returned home enriched with many experiences and friendships.
