Introduction
Sombor lies 60 kilometers to the southwest Subotica, next to Danube-Tisa-Danube Canal , 25 kilometers from the border of Hungary.
The older Hungarian name for the city was Czoborszentmihály. The name originates from the Czobor family, who were the owners of this area in the 14th century (The family name came from the Slavic name Cibor) and was first recorded in 1543.
Co-operation between cities started in 2002 and teamwork with National Serbian Minority Self-government is productive.
The most important cultural institutions are the National Theater, founded in 1882. Worth to see the City Museum and Turska Kuća.
