Between July 19 and 26, we were able to spend a week in Sombor in Vojvodina with seven children associated with our institution. The trip was largely attended by children attending the fR(i)ENDELŐ Youth Club, which started in April, so we can start our train tour with a well-acquainted group.
Our hosts awaited us with great love and careful organization at the railway station in Szabadka, from where our journey led to Lake Palici, where the children could stretch their tired joints with the help of bicycle carriages, which was followed by a delicious ice cream.
In the late afternoon, we arrived at the former County Center of Bács-Bodrog, in Sombor, where we were able to pick up our accommodation that met all our needs and met our warm host.
During the week we spent in Sombor, we were able to take part in a lot of meaningful programs: we met the mayor and deputy mayor of Sombor at his historically important former county house, we could travel by horse-drawn wagon and horse-drawn carriage, we could visit a farm and a Red Cross camp, we could sail and canoe on the canal near Sombor, we could taste the local specialties, we could dance kólo and we could go to the beach a lot.
During the closing ceremony, our hosts welcomed us to a farewell dinner in the town's bungalow, where we could sing our folk song Érik a szőrő as a thank you.
During the time spent together, the children from Sombor and Kispest made friends with each other, so it was even harder to say goodbye to one of the greenest settlements in Central Europe.
We are grateful for the time we spent in Sombor, during which we gained a lot of experience. We are grateful for Dejana and Tamara's careful organization, kindness and Attila's comprehensive attention and guidance.
