Bolyai János Primary School of Kispest and Güneşli Primary School of Istanbul signed a sister town agreement. The schools intend to co-operate especially in the field of culture and sport with special regard to benefit from EU possibilities. Relationship between the institutions can be formed as a result of the sister town agreement concluded between Kispest and Pendik, district of the Turkish metropolis last May.
“I’m sure that the two schools will be able to take the advantage of opportunities provided by their own country as well as by the European Union” – said Peter Gajda mayor in City Hall following conclusion of the sister school agreement of the Bolyai school and Güneşli Primary School of Istanbul on Monday afternoon. György Vinczek deputy mayor, Csaba Lackner local representative and Peter Nagy Human Resources Director representing Kispest local government and authority visited the event, as well as on the Turkish part Cihat Aslanoglu chief advisor of the mayor of Pendik and his colleague Kemal Kaya.
Peter Gajda told about the successful sister town co-operation of Kispest and Pendik district of Istanbul lasting for a year as a result of which the two institutions also got into closer contact. Speaking highly of the interschool agreement Cihat Aslanoglu mentioned the exchange recreation program: he told twenty students of five Pendik schools would arrive in Hungary between 11-21 July while just as many young people would visit Turkey from Kispest. He also emphasized that Kispest and Pendik can have further talks between Turkish and Hungarian businessmen.
Agreement between the two educational institutions was signed by Éva Röhrig director of the Bolyai and Bakile Mutlu director of the Güneşli Primary School. In the document the schools set as an aim to form mutual friendly relationship between the teachers and students, take advantage of the tendering possibilities granted for EU member states and candidates. For purpose of practicing English language Turkish and Hungarian students correspond with each other, schools organize common sports and cultural events.
Turkish delegation arrived at Kispest on Friday. They saw the Turkish sepulchral chapel built in the 16th century, Gül Baba’s türbe and went to Esztergom, as well. They had talks on the school agreement in the Bolyai school on Saturday, then visited the holiday camp of the local government in Káptalanfüred and went to Tihany and Balatonfüred, as well. They travelled to Szilvásvárad on Saturday, on the way, visiting the Hungarian scene of Forma 1 car race, Hungaroring. Delegation visited the Parliament on Monday led by Sándor Burány Member of the Parliament, then conclusion of the contract between the schools and discussion on sister town student exchange project took place. Following a sightseeing in Kispest the delegation returned to Turkey today at noon.
