Last week season began in the summer day-time camp of the local government. More than two hundred children applied for the program of the Vass school on the first week. Traditionally it is the Vass Lajos Primary School that makes a home to the summer day-time camp of the local government. The camp provides an opportunity to spend summer usefully especially for children of families in need, living under bad conditions. Parents should pay for the school meals for the camping – so pupils are supplied for maximum HUF 2,225 for five days – but those who get meals free of charge do not have to pay at all. In addition to the board children make a trip by bus once a week, go to the swimming pool every day and take part in different craftsmanship activities day by day. Programs are arranged for children by the Wekerle Culture Centre this year same as every year.
Although there would be demand on more cheap camps, narrow circumstances of the local government render only a few camps possible: the body of representatives granted four million forints for the summer camps this year that is less than half of the amount of last year, nine million forints – Peter Gajda mayor said.
International student exchange program also begins this week. Groups of twenty persons arrive from the sister towns Sombor, Krzeszowice and Pendik and travel to the holiday camp in Káptalanfüred. Having finished this camping, children from Kispest would travel abroad at different times: to Sombor from the Deák secondary school, to Krzeszowice from the Kós school and eight-form children “selected” from various primary schools go to Pendik.
