Mustafa Kemal Atatürk Memorial Park was opened and the statue of the statesman was unveiled with participation of delegation of the Turkish sister town, Pendik on Saturday.
Following the national anthems the park opening and statue unveiling ceremony started with the programme of the Turkish students of Orchidea school of Kőbánya on Saturday morning in the area in front of Match supermarket between Fő utca and Batthyány utca. Armenians and Greeks living in Hungary also attended the event: expressing their protestation by silent demonstration.
In his opening speech the Member of Parliament of Kispest told about the co-operation, friendship of the characteristic nations. “Man is homogeneous, integrating good and bad qualities. God and Allah created man so.” – drew up dr. Richárd Tarnai, then he recalled the talks he had earlier with his Slovakian friend about the essence of friendship. We should step over the problems and develop our relations. He underlined that close relationship among nations are also built upon human connections and gestures. Quoting from the Koran and the Bible the Member of Parliament told that the message is the harmony of the heart and faith delivered by the Koran and the Bible that we make efforts to live to see in everyday life.
Mayor of Pendik considered Mustafa Kemal Atatürk a person creating world peace. Dr. Salih Kenan Sahin expressed his special thanks to mayor and Member of Parliament of Kispest for the gesture of naming the memorial park after the Turkish statesman. He greeted the Armenians and Greeks silently protesting and expressed his hope that they would also live with nations in peace with whom they had not before.
Afterwards two mayors together unveiled the statue of Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, present of the Turkish sister town, Pendik, then as a token of friendship they planted two young Turkish hazelnut plantations together in the park.
