The local government has gained altogether € 22,000 within the frame of two tenders submitted for project of the European Commission titled Europe for Civilians. As informed by Brussels altogether 747 tenders were submitted from all countries of Europe and from among which 146 were chosen. It was only Kispest among the bidders which gained in two tenders simultaneously.
One of the projects facilitates financing of the student exchange recreation program in summer having been very popular for years within the framework of which children of Kispest spend their summer holiday together with Turkish, Croatian, Polish and Bulgarian students in Budapest and at Balaton. To continue the program Hungarian students travel to sister towns of Kispest, to Pendik (Turkey), Smolyan (Bulgaria), Vrbovec (Croatia) and Krzeszowice (Poland).
As a result of the other winning tender an international conference titled “Active citizenship and town development” will be arranged in which our Polish, Croatian and Bulgarian sister towns will take part. Purpose of the project is to co-ordinate participating settlements in a working European thematic co-operation. Its essential returns are, on the other hand, that this creates new framework in co-operation of the participating sister towns in program of the Union “Europe for Civilians”, moreover in the civil, educational, cultural and other dimensions, as well.
The European Commission provided pecuniary assistance to finance the expenses of these projects.
