PendikPendikKispestTown twinningStudent exchange program: children arrived from the sister towns – July 1, 2013
Turkish, Bulgarian, Polish and Croatian children arrived from the sister towns of Kispest to take part in the events of the student exchange project in Hungary. This year the project has also been assisted by the European Union.
The Croatian, Polish, Bulgarian and Turkish children arrived at Kispest still on Friday; the Turkish group was received by Mrs Tóth Éva Szabó and György Vinczek deputy mayors. Children coming from four sister towns of Kispest – Vrbovec, Krzeszowice, Smolyan and Pendik – spent the weekend with Hungarian families who received them and introduced them the sights of Budapest. Sunday morning Peter Gajda mayor met the children in the City Hall and handed over the presents of the local government. György Vinczek deputy mayor and Márk Fekete also attended the reception. The mayor considered the student exchange one of the most important elements of the sister town program. Plenty of foreign children had been to Kispest and Budapest since 2006 by the help of the sister towns and assisted by the European Union, he pointed out.
Following the reception the Hungarian and foreign students taking part in the sister town exchange program travelled together to summer camp of the local government in Káptalanfüred led by István Szilágyi sister town co-ordinator, where they are going to spend the coming days. In the course of the program besides trips and sports competitions the students take part in quiz programmes on the European Union and in folklore events, they can learn culture and habbits of each other to develop and strengthen the active European civil consciousness.
After joint vacation at Lake Balaton still this summer nearly one hundred children from Kispest can return the foreign children’s visit since students of Kispest leave for Smolyan (Bulgaria) from the Deák secondary school, for Krzeszowice (Poland) from the Vass school, for Vrbovec (Croatia) from the Eötvös school. The students of Bolyai school had earlier travelled to Pendik (Turkey) in June 17-26.
