Introduction
Pendik is a district of Istanbul, Turkey on the Asian side between Kartal and Tuzla. During the Byzantine era, the place was called Pantikion or Pentikion, and before that Pantikàpion and Pantikàpeum in Greek. Aydos Hill (Turkish: Aydos Tepesi) is a hill in border of the district. Its peak at 537 m (1,762 ft) above sea level is the highest point of Istanbul.
Co-operation between cities started in 2010.
Population is approx. 625,000.
Until the 1970s Pendik was a rural area, far from the city. Nowaday Pendik is a teeming shopping district, where we can meet with the european and asian reach culture.
